Abstract

Cultural preservation is an effort to maintain the values of cultural arts and traditional values by developing manifestations that are dynamic, flexible and selective, as well as adapting to situations and conditions that are always changing and developing. At present, there are not a few original cultures from Indonesia that are starting to be recognized by other countries. This problem is caused by a lack of attention from various groups regarding the importance of preserving Indonesian original culture. Thus this resulted in the original culture of the regions in Indonesia lacking a generation to become its heir. Therefore, cultural preservation must be encouraged to save the existence of that culture so that it does not disappear. One example is the culture of the Javanese people in Batangharjo Village. In this village, the majority of the population is Javanese, so it's no wonder that the culture in this village is also a culture that originates from the land of Java and should be preserved. Therefore, this research was conducted to find out how the preservation of the culture of the Javanese people in Batangharjo Village is.

In this study, researchers tried to dig up information using qualitative descriptive research methods which are expected to be able to provide clear and clear research results regarding the preservation of Javanese culture in Batangharjo Village such as the Kuda Lumping dance, Nyadran Tradition and Wiwitan Tradition. From the results of this study, researchers discovered how the culture of the Javanese people can be preserved. The art of Kuda Lumping Dance in Batangharjo Village is preserved through several art galleries in Batangharjo Village. Apart from going through the studio, Javanese culture in Batangharjo

Village has also been preserved from generation to generation through the family, such as the Nyadran tradition. The Wiwitan tradition is also not spared from preservation efforts. This tradition is being preserved through the Karang Taruna youth program in Batangharjo Village. These things make the Javanese culture in Batangharjo Village can be maintained properly. In their efforts, more or less, these parties experienced quite a few difficulties which became an inhibiting factor for the smooth running of cultural preservation. However, on the other hand there are also supporting factors that support the smooth running of efforts to preserve Javanese culture in Batangharjo Village.
