Abstract

This research was aimed at detecting the influence of using Mind Mapping Technique (X) toward the students' descriptive writing ability (Y) at the tenth grade of MAN 1 Lampung Timur in academic year 2016/2017.

This research is a quantitative research, The population of this research was the tenth grade students. A sample of 30 students is established through the purposive sampling technique. The instruments that used in this research is test, that consist of making a descriptive paragraph essay. To analyze the data, the writer used the formulation of Chi-square.

The result of this research shows that Degree of freedom ( DF ) of this reserach is 2, the value of chi-square was 29,56. Then, the data confirmed that " f= 29,56 is higher than "ft=5,991 in 5% and 9,210 in 1%. Therefore, it can be inferred that alternatifhyphothesis (Ha) is accepted there is positive and significant influence of using mind mapping technique toward the students' descriptive writing ability at the tenth grade of MAN 1 Lampung Timur.
