Abstract

The primary goal of this research is to figure out the influence of using Word Chain game toward students' vocabulary mastery in their abilities in express their idea among the eleventh graders of SMAN 1 Seputih Raman. By speaking, students active in learning process. Unfortunately, there were many students lack of vocabulary and low motivation to learn English.

This research was quantitative research which had been conducted in SMAN 1 Seputih Raman at the class XI. The technique sampling was cluster sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher used test and documentataion. The test was used to find out whether Word Chain game was effective game in students' vocabulary mastery in learning process. The analysis which was used by the formula was chi-square and t-test.

Finally, the data indicated that t observed 11,915 was higher than table for the 5% level 1,694 and table for the 1% level 2,449. Therefore, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It means that, Word Chain game influences the students' vocabulary mastery among the eleventh graders of SMAN 1 Seputih Raman.
