Abstract

The primary goal of this research is to find out that collaborative strategic reading (CSR) can improve reading comprehension at the tenth grade students of the SMA Kesuma Bhakti Bekri Central Lampung in academic year of 2015/2016. Pretest is used to know the students ability in understanding reading text and pot test to know the result of the students ability in reading text after giving the treatment that was collaborative strategic reading (CSR).

This research is classroom action research (CAR) which is done in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this research were 24 students of the tenth graders of SMA Kesuma Bhakti Bekri Central Lampung. In collecting data used test (pre-test, post test 1 and post test 2), observation, documentation and field note.

The finding of the research shows that collaborative strategic reading (CSR) can be used as a teaching technique of reading. It provided by the average score result of pre-test and post-test show that there were increased score. In post-test I that is 67.5 point and post test II is 78.5 point, and improvement of reading comprehension is 14.0 point.

The conclusion of this reseach is by uses collaborative strategic reading (CSR) can improved the students reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMA Kesuma Bhakti Bekri Central Lampung in academic year 2015/2016.
