Abstract

This purpose of this research is to know the influence of using picture sequence media (X) the students' writing ability (Y) at the eighth grade of SMPN 2 Raman Utara East Lampung. Based on problem identification of the research is found some of students' problem such as: the students have low ability in writing, the students have difficulties to express their ideas in writing and the media used to teach recount text is considered ineffective.

Based on the explanation above, the problem formulation of this research is "Is there any positive and significant influence of using picture sequence media on the students' writing ability at the eighth grade of SMPN 2 Raman Utara East Lampung?". This research is quantitative research. The sample of research is 29 samples and the population is eighth grade of SMPN 2 Raman Utara East Lampung. The data collecting method, such as: test and documentation. To know there is influence of picture sequence media on the students' writing ability text use Chi-Square.

Based on the data analysis result, the data show that "fo = 28,94 is higher than "f₁ =5,991 in 5% and 9,210 in 1%. It means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and (Ho) is rejected. It is means that using picture sequence media has positive and significant influence on the students' writing ability at the eighth grade of SMPN 2 Raman Utara East Lampung.
