Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a positive and significant influence of using the Go Fish game on the vocabulary mastery of the fifth graders at SDN 6 Teluk Pandan Pesawaran. This research employed a true experimental design with one group that was given a pre-test, two treatment sessions using the Go Fish game, and a post-test. The sample consisted of 32 students selected through cluster random sampling.
The data were collected through vocabulary tests, consisting of a pre-test and a post-test, and were analyzed using a paired sample t-test computed through SPSS. The results of the study showed that students’ vocabulary mastery improved after the implementation of the Go Fish game. The post-test results indicated that 91% of students achieved scores above the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) of 70. The statistical analysis showed that the obtained t-observed value (8.473) was higher than the t-table value at the 5% significance level (2.039) and at the 1% significance level (2.744). Furthermore, the sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 was lower than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results.
Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Go Fish game has a positive and significant influence on students’ vocabulary mastery. Therefore, this game can be used as an effective and engaging learning strategy to enhance vocabulary achievement among young learners.
