Abstract

Listening is one of the basics of learning languages. Listening comprehension refers to the understanding of the implicit and explicit meanings of words and sentences of spoken language. Based on the pre survey data, the problems which had been identified were the students had difficulties to concentrate, to discriminate the sounds which have similar pronunciation and to interpret the spoken language. Reading Aloud was helped the students in comprehending the text in spoken language because this strategy helps students in building vocabulary, pronunciation, interpretation and developing the understandings of text passages. In this case, the writer tried to investigate whether there was influence of using Reading Aloud Strategy toward the students' listening comprehension. This research used reading aloud by teacher which is a teacher who reads aloud and students listen it.

This research was aimed at detecting the influence of using Reading Aloud Strategy (X) toward listening comprehension (Y) at the eleventh graders of Vocational High School PGRI ITranspram II Labuhan Ratu. The population of the research was the eleventh graders and the subjects of the research were 26 students.

Furthermore, the writer conducted the quasi experimental design, by applying pretest and post-test as the instrument. In accordance with the method in present research, experimental design, the data was analyzed by using t-test that enable to investigate the differences between the result of pre-test before treatment and the result of post-test after treatment.

Moreover, the result of data analysis illustrates that tobserved 7,09 and it is categorized into high influence. Next, tobserved is consulted to table of the significant level of 5% = 2,060 and 1% 2,787. Finally, the data confirms tobserved is higher that table. Thus, it can be inferred that the hypothesis is accepted. There is positive and significant influence between the result of pre-test and post-test at the eleventh graders of Vocational High School PGRI 1 Transpram II Labuhan Ratu.
