Abstract

Speaking is a way someone tells words, sentence and the other, based on the right rules. Through the good speaking, the speaker will be able to the good speaker. Transformation drill technique can be explained the student is obligated to take the clue sentences and transform (change) it so that it has a different meaning.

The objectives of this Classroom Action Research (CAR) are to find out how Transformation Drill Technique could increase the students' speaking Performance in learning English and how far increasing Speaking Performance through Transformation Drill Technique.

The Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted by two cycles. There are four steps in each cycle: they are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The writer gives one pre-test before treatment and two post-test. The subject of this action research is the tenth graders of Vocational School PGRI Sekampung Udik. The writer uses observation, test (pre-test and post-test), documentation, and field note to collecting data. While, to analyzing the data, the writer used students average score.

The average result score of the pre-test and post-test shows that there is progressing score. The average score at pre-test is 57; post-test 1 is 62.6 and then, the average score at post-test 2 is 69.2. Based on the result above, it can be said that transformations drill technique can increasing students' speaking performance.

In summarize, by using transformation drill technique the students' speaking performance at the tenth graders of Vocational School PGRI Sekampung Udik was increase.
