Abstract

The objectives of the research are to find out the difference of the students' achievement between the use of Dialogue Texts and Maps in developing narrative paragraph writing ability and to compare the result of the two media in order to determine which is more effective.

This research is a experimental research. The research was concducted at the Eleventh Grade ofMa'arifNU 5 Islamic Senior High School Sckampung that consist of 76 students. There are 37 in Social Science Class 1 and 39 in Social Science Class 2. The writer used test to measure both of the variables. The writer measure Social Science Class I which got test dialogue texts develop into narrative paragraph and Social Science Class 2 which got test maps develop into narrative Paragraph.

To investige whether there is a positive and significant comparative study between the use of the dialogue texts and maps in developing narrative paragraph writing ability at the eleventh grade of Ma'arif NU 5 islamic senior high school sekampung, the writer analyzes the data by using t-test.

The average score of Social Science Class I is Higher (73,378) than the average score of Social Science Class 2 (61,153). it can be Concluded that the teaching applied in Social Science Class I (using dialogue texts) gives better result than teaching applied in Social Science Class 2 (using Maps) in narrative paragraph test.

The result of data analysis using t-test is r observed =0,2904 and r «a6te = 5%: 1,999, 1%: 2,638. It means that r «ebte is higher than r observes. Therefore, it can be inffered that Hi is rejected and Ho is accepted. In reference to the conclusion, dialogue texts have more positive effects to develop student's narrative paragraph writing ability at the eleventh grade of Ma'arif NU 5 Islamic Senior high School sckampung. The writer suggests English teacher to apply dialogue texts as one of alternative media in teaching narrative paragraph writing.
