Abstract

Reading is concerned mainly in understanding fully for the readers create the meaning intendes by the writer. Through reading the readers create the environment that shapes their minds and theirselves. Think pair share strategy is beginning from thinking process, the students think earlier toward the problem from the teacher, then pair, the students must pair and discuss and the last they share with the entire class.

The problem in this research focused in reading comprehension. The primary goal of this research was to know the students' reading comprehension through Think Pair Share Strategy at the seventh graders of SMP N 7 Metro that consisted of 32 students. This research conducted the Classroom Action research (CAR) which was done in two cycles. Every cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subject of this research was 32 students at the seventh graders Of SMP N 7 Metro. The collecting data used test, observation, interview, documentation and field note. The research was conducted through collaborative with an English teacher of of SMP N 7 Metro was Mr. Wagino, S.Pd.

The result of the test showed that there was any increasing from pre-test and post-test. In the first cycle the average score of pre-test in cycle I was 50,79 and post- test cycle I was 62, 18, increasing the score were 11,99. In the post-test cycle II the average score of the students' was 80,62, increasing the score were 18,44 from post- test cycle II. In summing up it may be stated that, the use of think pair share strategy can increase the students' reading comprehension at the seventh graders of SMP N 7 Metro in academic year 2012/2013.
