Abstract

This thesis aimed to showing that the use of repitation drilling technique can improve the ability in stressing english word among the fifth grade students of islamic elementary school 4 Lampung Timur academic year of 2018/2019. Often, the students have difficulties in learning pronounciation because there was different language between English and Indonesian and not exactly the use of techniques in studying pronounciation.

This thesis was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which involved 27 students in the fifth grade and was conducted in two cycle. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were taken from stressing english words test to figure out the students’ ability in stressing English words. Futhermore, the researcher used observation technique to get the data about students’ learning activities. The researcher also used documentation method to support the information concerning on the learning English.

The average score of pre-test and post-tes shows that there was improving score. The average of pre-test is 45,18, and the post-test I is 63,45, it was improve 18 point. And then, the average in post-testII was 75,43 it was increse 12 point from post-test I. From the result above, it can be conclude that the use of repetition drilling technique can improve the students’ ability in pronouncing stress.
