Abstract
The purpose of this research to increasethe students‟ writing ability in SMP Muhammadiyah1 Trimurjo, CentralLampung. The researcher expects that You Ought To Be in the PictureStrategycould help the students in learning process and be one of the strategies to increase the students‟ writing ability.
In this research, the researcher conducted classroom action research (CAR) which was done in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subjects of this research was 23 students in Eighthgraders of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Trimurjo. In collecting data, the researcher used test (pre-test, post test I and post test 2), observation and documentation. The research was conducted collaboratively with the English teacher of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Trimurjo.
The result of this research showed that You Ought To Be in the PictureStrategy had the positive result in increasing the students‟ writing ability of the Eighthgraders of SMP . It can be known by the students‟ average score from the pre test to post test. The average score in pre test was 42, post test 1 was 66and post test 2 was 74. It means that theYou Ought To Be in the PictureStrategy can increase the students‟ writing ability.
