Abstract
This study aimed to describing an analysis of transposition in translating English into Indonesian text at the third semester of IAIN Metro. The type of this research is qualitative research. In collecting the data, uses documentation, interview, and observation. The data are analyzed using theory by Creswell.
The findings research are 260data, (1) that is accurate level of transposition on the students. There are 170 accurate data(41%) while 22 data which less accurate (9%) and inaccurate 131 data (50%). (2)there are five types of transposition, such as: Structure, unit, class shift, intra system, and level shift and the dominant type show up are type structure and unit type with 3 numbers each type. (3) The students get different accuracy level on transposition because they had different comprehension to understand transposition and the students don’t understand the meaning and the goals of the source text.
Conclusion, transposition must be learn by student in translation subject because by using transposition, the students easier to translate source language into target language.
