Abstract

This research aimed to obtain the information about percentage of the students‟ difficulties in writing skill and knowing reason why the students of SMP N 8 Metro felt difficulties in writing text.

The kind of this research is qualitative research. The data collecting by documentation and interview.This research applies john w. creswell model to analyse the data.

The findings research showsthe students‟ types of basic word order in writingthe most difficultiesword orderin negative sentence 7% with (9 sentences), 10% word order in subordinate clauses with (15 sentences) and 83% word order in positive sentences with (120sentances ).The students have difficulties in writing basic word order becausethey do not pay attention toward the explanation given by the teacher and a brief explanation from the teacher.In conclusion this research isstudentsskill writng word order still need to be repaired, because the students at the eight graderof SMP N 8 Metrostill have a lot difficulties especially in the component of writing ( content, generating idea, vocabulary and grammar. Therefore, the teacher should pay attention toward them suach as by giving spirit or praise and giving explanation that writing text is very useful and interesting.
