Abstract

The mainpurposeof this classroom action research is to find out whether the useof speed reading technique could improvethe students’ reading comprehension of thetenthgrade in SMA Ma’arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung.

This research is conducted as classroomaction research, it was a research wherethe researcherwhowantsusing this research should be involved the processing of learning directlyin the class, and then after the researcher conducted the last cycle the researcher and collabolator madethe conclusionthat research has been done.The classroom action researchconducted in SMA Ma’arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung by the two cycles. In this research each cyclesconsist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this research were 25students of tenthgrade of SMA Ma’arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung in academic year2019/2020. In collecting of research datais used the test (pre-test, post test 1and post test 2),documentation, observation and field note.

The finding of the research is speed reading technique could improvethe students’ reading comprehensionat the tenthgrade ofSMA Ma’arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampung.The research data showedfrom their average score in pre-test were 62,in post test 1 67,6and Become 70,8in post test 2. It means that there was available improvement of using speed reading technique on the students’ reading comprehension of tenthgradeof SMA Ma’arif 1 Seputih Banyak Central Lampungin Academic Year 2019/2020.The conclusion that speed reading technique can be used to improve students’ reading comprehension in English recount text.
