Abstract

The objective of this research is to know whether of Expository Learning Strategytoenhance students’ Reading Comprehension Abilityin procedure text in teaching learning process. The object of this research was twenty-eightstudents oftenthgraders of the MA. MA’arif 9 Kotagajah East Lampung. This research wasdone in two cycles. Each cycleis done in twomeetings. Each cycle is consistsof planning, action, observation, and reflection. In collecting data, the researcheruses test, there are pre-test and post-test, documentation, observation, and field note. The purposes of pre-test and post-test are to know the students reading comprehensionabilitybefore and being given the treatment.

The result in cycle I showed that the average percentage of active students 43% and in the cycle 2 is 78%. The average pre-test and post-test showed an increase in these results.The average of post-test is higher than Pre-test and post-test show that there is an increase from Pre-test and post-test. The students’ average in pre-test was 58, the average score in post-test I was 67, and the average score in post-test II was78. The students’ percentagewho passed the minimum standardof criteria (MSC) in pre-test was 25%, in post-test I was 43%, and post-test II was 78%.

It is clear that based on the result pre-test and post-test, it can be said expository learningstrategyhas positive to enhancein learning reading comprehension ability. By using expository learningstrategy, the students are easierand undersandin following the class. So they enjoy doing the task. It also makes themexcited in studying the material. Referring to the analysisof the students score above, it canbe said expository learning strategyis one of strategycan be enhancetowards the students reading comprehension ability.
