Abstract
he goalof this study is to understandwhether the use of short storycould increase the students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of junior high school 2 batanghari east lampung.This research was classroom action research (CAR) which is done in two cycle. Each cycle consists of consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. Observation,interview,documentation, and field note are usedto collect the data.This research is conducted collaboratively with an English teacher ofjunior high school batanghari east lampung.The result of thisresearchshowsin the first cycle, the average of pre-test score was 56.52 and post test score was 66.52. The score increase 10.00 point. In post test cycle II, the students average score was 77.77. The score increase 11.25. It can be concluded that using short story can improve students’ reading comprehensionat the eighth grade of junior high school batanghari east lampung.
