Abstract
he aim of this research was to implement the Nominal Group Technique and analyze its influence in students’ skill of writing in descriptive text at the eighth grader of SMPN 8 Metro. The researcherconducted quantitative research with the true experimental design, by applying pre-test and post-test as the instrument.
Furthermore, the data was analyzed by using t-testformula that enable to investigatea positive influence from the traetmentby investigating the differences between the experimental group which received the treatment(Nominal grouptechnique)and the control group whichdidn’t receivethe treatment.Beside that, the researcher also analyzed the data by using Chi-Squareformula to investigatea significant influence from the treatment by investigating the significant differences of students pre-test and post-test score (before and after the treatment) in experimental class.
Finally, the result of data analysis from t-test formula illustrates that t observed=8.252is higher thant tablewiththe significant level of 5% = 2.010and 1% = 2.682.Thus, it can be inferred that there is a positive ifluence. Then, the result of data anlysis from Chi-Squareformula illustratesthat observed= 22.094is higher than tablewiththe significant level of 5% = 5.991and 1% =9.210. It means that there isa significant influence.Therefore, the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. With the result that there is a positive and significant influence of using Nominal grouptechnique onthe students’descriptivewriting skill at the Eighth Graderof SMPN 8 Metro in the Academic Years of 2017/2018
