Abstract
The maingoal of this classroom action research is to find out whether the useof reciprocal teaching method could improvethe students’ reading comprehension skill of theeightgrade in SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Metro.
This research is classroom action research, it was a research where the researcher who want using this research must be involved the processing of learning directly, andthen after the researcher conducted the last cycle the researcher madethe conclusion that the research has been done.The classroom action research conducted in SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Metro bythe two cycles. In this research each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this research were 20students (VIII C) of the eight grade in SMP Muhammadiyah3 Metroin Academic Year 2017/2018. In collecting of dataresearch is used the test (pre-test, post test 1and post test 2), observation,documentation, and field note.
The finding of the research were Reciprocal Teaching Methodcould improvethe students’ reading comprehension skill at the eight grade ofSMP Muhammadiyah 3Metro.This factcan be showedfrom theiraverage score in pre-test were 46.75,in post test 1 65and became 73,5in post test 2. It meansthat there was significant improvementof using Reciprocal teaching method on the students’ reading comprehension skill ofeight gradeof SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Metroin Academic Year 2017/2018.The conclusion that reciprocal teaching method is one method that can be used to improve students’ comprehension in understanding English text.
