Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to investigate the students’ writing abilityat State Junior High School 8 Metrowhich found in writing proceduretext and to know what extend of the Silent Demonstration Strategycould help the students in learning process. The writer tries to attest that Silent Demonstration Strategycan be one of the teaching strategy to increasethe students’ writing abilityespecially in proceduretext.

In this research, researcher conducts classroom action research (CAR) which is done in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subject of this research is 26students in VIII.Aclass of State Junior High School 8 Metro. In collecting data, the researcher usedtest (pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2), observation and documentation. The research is conducted collaboratively with an English teacher of State Junior High School 8 Metro.

Regarding to the researchresult which wastaken from observation and field mote, it could be inferred that there was significant increasingfrom cycle 1 to cycle 2. The averagescore of post-test 1 was67. Next to cycle 2 the average score was 74. It indicated that indicator of success of the research has been achieved at least 70% students was passed the Minimum StandardCriteria. The researcher conclude hat by using silent demonstaration strategy as a alternative strategy to increase the students writing ability at the eight grade of State Junior High School 8 Metro
