Abstract
Reading comprehension ability is the process of constructing meaning involving the written language by interpreting textual information in the light of prior knowledge and experiences using appropriate and efficient comprehension strategies. The objective of this research is to know whether of using ANTICIPATORY READING GUIDES Strategycan influence the students’ Reading ComprehensionAbility at the tenthGrade of SMPN 1 Pekalonganin the Academic Year of 2017/2018. Inthis research the researcher gave pre-test to know how far the students’ reading comprehensionability and post-test to know the result of the students in reading comprehensionability after giving the ANTICIPATORY READING GUIDES strategy.
Thisresearch wasconducted toward 31 students among the Eighth Graders of SMP N 1 Pekalonganin the academic year of 2017/2018, in ClassVIII.5 consist of 31 studentsas the experimental class. This research is quantitative research design in the form of experimental research. The researcher uses test as the data collection method. To investigate whether there is a positive and significant. Theresearcher analyzed the data by using ttestformula.
Theaveragepre-test ofscore Experiment class is (49.09)and average pos-test score of Experiment class is (73.33). It can be concluded that teaching in the experimental class using Anticipatory Reading Guides Strategygavebetter result in teaching reading comprehensionability.The result of data analysis using t-test is that t-observationis > t-table in 5% with the significant8.06 > 2.042. Therefore it can be inferred that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that there is a positive and significant influence on using ANTICIPATORY READINGGUIDES Strategytoward the students’ reading comprehension ability at the eighthgradeof SMP N 1 Pekalongan in Academic Year 2017/2018.
