Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is anypositive and significantinfluence of usingspellingg bee game mediatowardstudents speaking skillat eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah Sekampung.The problem that faced by the students is the students have lackvocabulary and difficultiesto pronoucea word in speaking.

This research iscarried out todiscuss spelling bee game influences students’speaking skill.This research is quantitative research. The research used test and documentation to collect the data. This research used random sampling as sampling technique. The researcher gave one pre-test before treatment and onepost-test after treatment. This research used 25students as subject of research.The researcher analyzed the data by using Chi Square and t-test formulation toprove whether hypothesis is accepted or rejected.

The result of data analysis from t-test formula illustrates that tobserved=4.441is higher than ttablewith the significant level of 5% =2.682and 1% =2.406.Thus, it can be inferred that there is a positive ifluence. Then, the result of data anlysis from Chi-Square formula illustrates that observed=17.574is higher than table with the significant level of 5% =5.99and 1% =9.21. It means that there isa significant influence.Therefore, the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.With the result that there is a positive and significant influence of using Spelling Bee Game on the students speaking skill at the eighth grade of SMP Muahammadiyah Sekampung.
