Abstract
The purposes of this research are to determine whethertheuse ofRandom Text Strategycan improve the students‟ mastery of Reading Comprehensionand students‟ learning activitiesof eleventhgrade at MAN 1 Lampung Timur in the academic year 2019/2020.The researcherhad outlined the problemsin this research that focused on ReadingComprehension. It is related on the problem identification that the students have low motivation to learn English especially in Reading Comprehension, they haveinsufficient Reading Comprehension, and they are also not interested about the learning methodin the class. They always feel bored in Englishclass.
Furthermore, kind of this research is classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in twocycles. Each cycle consist of planing, acting, observing and reflecting.Object of this research is the students‟ reading comprehension. In collecting the data, the researcherused test, observation, documentation, and field note. This research was conducted in a collaborative study withan English teacher of eleventh grade at MAN 1 Lampung Timur.
Finally, the data confirmed that pre-test just 13% students that can fulfill Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC)and the average score of the pre-test was 59. It provesthat the result of pre-test was unsatisfactory.Moreover, in post-test I there are 40% students that can fulfill MMC and the average score of the post-test was68. Then, the resultin post-testII was 87% students that can fulfil MMC with the average score was 78.In addition,the resultof learning activity of cycle I is 60%and cycle II is 83%.It means that the use of Random Text Strategy in Reading Comprehensioncan improve the students‟Reading Comprehension and learning activity at the eleventhgraders ofMAN 1 Lampung Timur in the academic year 2019/2020.
