Abstract

The purpose of this research isto show that using Detailed Reading Strategycan improvethe students‟ writing achivementand students‟ learning activitiesat the tenth gradersof Senior High School 1 Sekampungintheacademic yearof2018/2019.The researcher had outlined the problem in this research that focused on writing achievement.

This research iscategorizeas classroom action research. The actions areimplemented in two cycles based on the class schedule. The subjects of the research are26 students of class X social one of Senior High School 1 Sekampung. The qualitative data areobtain by observing the teaching and learning process.

The data arecollect from the field notes, observation sheets and photographs. Meanwhile, the quantitative dataareacquired by conducting the pre-test and the post-test of Cycle I and Cycle II.The data analysis showsthat the improvement ofthe students‟ writing achievement got from the two cycles, namely from the cycle I, the mean is = 65, and from the cycle II the mean is = 74. It means that detailed reading strategy is able to improve students‟ writingachievement atthe tenth graders of Senior High School 1 Sekampung.
