Abstract

Bustanul Ulum High School is a public education institution that has the characteristics of the Islamic religion which always strives to improve human resources (HR) who are good, faithful, pious, have extensive knowledge and have noble morals and have good character. This is in accordance with the development of a curriculum whose aim is to focus on religious education and its history which is a continuation of the pesantren system. Schools that are based on regional autonomy policies can develop their curricula by including pesantren-based learning in their curriculum so that they do not lose their orientation and characteristics of their historical roots, so that there will be differences between this school and other public schools.

This study aims to describe: 1) The inculcation of Islamic moderation values in preventing radicalism through Islamic education learning. 2) Supporting factors in instilling Islamic Moderation values in preventing radicalism through Islamic education learning. 3) Barriers and solutions in instilling Islamic Moderation values in preventing radicalism through Islamic education learning. 4) The role of Islamic Moderation values in preventing radicalism through Islamic Education learning.

This research is a type of qualitative research, which is a form of research that is intended to describe existing phenomena. In collecting data, researchers used observation, interview and documentation methods. Meanwhile, the guarantee of data validity is by using triangulation. Meanwhile, to analyze the data using the process of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions.

The results of this study indicate: 1) The inculcation of Islamic moderation values in preventing radicalism through Islamic education includes the cultivation of Islamic moderation values in the classroom such as objectives, materials, methods, media and evaluation. And planting the value of Islamic moderation outside the classroom such as extracurricular activities, religion, and nationalism 2) supporting factors: support from the foundation, a supportive and religious environment, high parental interest in sending their children to Bustanul Ulum High School, PAI teachers and lesson instructors based on pesantren which has high competence according to pesantren graduates. 3) inhibiting factors and solutions: students do not understand what the values of moderation mean, and the teacher's lack of ability in arranging learning tools, is overcome by training and upgrading, technical guidance and teacher deliberations. 4) The role of Islamic Moderation values in preventing radicalism through Islamic Education learning is very helpful for students to understand and understand what radicalism is.
