Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to know that using Rally Coach can enhance the students‘ writing skills of writing report text in the teaching and learning process. The objective of this research was the eleventh grade students of SMA N 1 Trimurjo Central Lampung. The subjects of this study were 25 students at SMA N 1 Trimurjo. The focus of this research is report writing skills. The problem is related to the problem identification that the students have low vocabulary mastery and low grammar comprehension.

In this research, the researcher conducts classroom action research (CAR) which is done in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The material used in this study is a report text. The researcher used observation, tests, documentation, and field notes to collect data. The research is conducted collaboratively with an English teacher of SMA N 1 Trimurjo.

The finding of this research shows that there is enhancing the students‘ report writing skills by using Rally Coach. It can be proved by the students‘ progress of the average score in pre test, post-test I, and post test II. The results of the study indicated that the overall scores of students writing report text skills from two cycles are (a) 55,96 in pre-test, and (b) 66,24 in post-test 1 and (c) 78,44 in post-test 2. The activities of students in the learning process to be more active. The condition of the class was getting better. The students pay attention to the teacher‘s explanation in the learning activity. Based on the results of this study, it can be said that the Rally Coach can enhance the students‘ writing skill in writing report text.
