Abstract

This research discusses about Code Mixing Used by the presenter of master chef indonesia program on RCTI Television. This research aimed to find out the types, levels and reason of code-mixing, this study employed content analysis which focused on analyzing the types of code mixing which defined by Hoffman, the levels of code mixing that argued by Suwito and the reason of code mixing based on Hoffman’s theory.

The research was descriptive qualitative method and the human research is the main instrument of this research. This research used observation and documentation in collecting the data.

The findings showed that there were 60 data of code-mixing from the video of episode 22A and 22B. The researcher concluded that there were two types of code-mixing used by the presenter of master chef indonesia they were Intra Sentential Code-Mixing and Intra Lexcial of code mixing, the dominant type that the presenter used was Intra Sentential Code-Mixing. While there were four levels of code mixing used by the presenter they were word level, phrase level, baster level and clause level. The last, the reason of using code-mixing were Talking about a particular topic, Interjection, Repetition, To soften or strengthen request or command and Because of lexical need.
