Abstract
Basically, speaking is one of productive skill in English that has to be learnedstudents. However in reality, there are so many students that still find difficulties in speaking because several factors in teaching and learning process. Based on the data of pre survey, the principal problems that is experienced by the students is they have low skill in speaking performance because they have low motivation.
Teaching by using an appropriate technique is considered as an important necessary related to the problems above. Hopscotch Technique is considered as the solution for the problems above because this technique brought two positive for good impact impelementation hopscotch technique for studentmade health boddy try to move and jump and good phsycologist for student to made create inovation in their process learning in outdoor classroom to development ideaimprove speaking performance. In this research, the researcher conducted a classroom action research (CAR) which was done in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subjects of this research was 25 students in the eighthgraders of SMP TMI Roudhlatul Qur‟an Metro. In collecting data, the researcher used that include test pre-test, post test I and post test 2, observation and documentation. The research was conducted collaboratively with the English teacher of SMP TMI Roudhlatul Qur‟an Metro.
The result of this research show that Hopscotch Technique have positive result in improving the students‟ speaking performance among the eighthgraders of SMP TMI Roudhlatul Qur‟an Metro. It can be proven by the students average score from pre test to post test. Theaverage score in pre-test was 50, post-test I was 68and become 77 in post-test II. In addition, the students‟ learning activites were improved from the 51% in cycle 1 to 76% in cycle 2. It means that the usingHopscotchTechnique can improve the students‟speaking performance.
