Abstract

Language is a method of human communication either spoken or written. English as a language for communication was important in this global era, where people from many countries have been used English as a language to
communicate with one another in daily activities. Pronunciation is another important thing that people have to master. Indonesia people are majority moslem. Moslem children at every young age already mastered how to
pronounce the hijaiyah fluently. English and hijaiyah have been some similar sound in pronouncing the latters. The objective of this research is to investigate the students perception of the implementation of hijaiyah consonant in their English pronunciation clas. This research have been
investigated the equivalency of hijaiyah consonant and English pronunciation.

In this research the writer decided to apply qualitative method. The participant of this research is the eighth grade of MTs Riyadlatul Ulum. The writer used observation, interview and documentation as data instrument to collect the data, and the primary data of this research is the eighth grade of MTs Riyadlatul Ulum.

As the result of this study that there are 18 hijaiyah letters that have equivalency with English phonetic. The students agree to infuse hijaiyah in their English class, especially in English pronunciation. The students very
enthusiastic about learning English proununciation using hijaiyah consonant.
