Abstract
Choosing the right method on teaching is the important thing. The right technique will make the teaching more interesting. Listening is one of abilities which should be mastered by every student in learning english. They should have the ability in english and must be able to use speaking English with good and true in communication. In the fact, the students still get difficultly in communication. They are confused to speak Englsh and some of them fell shy to do it in front of the other students.
Therefore the researcher used English video to overcome the problem. The method is product of behaviorism’s approach. The purpose of the research was to know is there an influence of using English video toward the students’ listening skill at the tenth graders of MA Ma’arif 7 Uman Agung in academic years of 2012/013.
This research is quantitative research. The research is conducted in MA arif 7 Uman Agung which consist 2 classes with the total is 65 students. The sample of the researchis 32 students of class B, and the sampling technique in this research is population sample . In this research , the reseacher uses test and documentation as data collection method. The researcher gave pre test to know the result of students’ listening skill before the treatment and post test to after giving the treatment. The data analyzed by using t-test.
The researcher did the test with students’ must be listen and see the English video, after that the researcher did the test having a form essay test. The result of data analyzed by using t-test is tobserved = 11.809 and ttable = 5% : 2.031. it means that tobserved is higher than ttable : 11.809 > 2.031. It can be infered that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. There is an influence of Using English Video toward Students’ Listening skill. It can be concluded that using English Video can gives more positive effect to increase the students’ listening skill.
