Abstract

The management and development plan for the Dam Raman ecotourism area in Metro City, which used crooked land in the former Purwosari Village (now Purwosari and Purwoasri), intersects with three districts/cities, has the potential to cause conflict in the community. This research aimed to overcome this potential social conflict, and this information can be used to formulate strategies to anticipate conflicts in a sustainable manner. This descriptive study selects respondents purposively. Prospective analysis is carried out by identifying important factors, preparing Skenarios for the potential conflicts in the future and strategies to prevent them. The results showed that the important factors that need to be considered to avoid potential conflicts in the management and development of the Raman Dam ecotourism area are; equitable distribution of income, local government commitment, community participation, institutions, land status, and investors. Conflict prevention strategies should be carried out by taking into account these six important factors from three Skenarios of circumstances that may occur in the future. The best Skenario to prevent conflicts is the Sai Wawai Skenario, where management in the Raman Dam ecotourism area can provide fair benefits to business stakeholders and communities to contribute economic progress of the area and Metro City in general.
