Abstract
A significant rise in the number of English-speaking Muslims around the world calls for attention on the proper usage of Islamic terms in the English usage. Popularized by al-Faruqi, Islamic English refers to the English language modified to enable Muslim to carry Islamic proper names, nouns, phrase and sentence without distortion.
This research discusses about the types of syntax in Islamic English terms used in Maher Zein’s songs, and th implication of Islamic English songs in English learning. The purpose of this research is to find out what types of syntax are contained in the songs and what the implications in English learning are.This research is a qualitative research. In this research, researcher used observation research method. The data source for this research was taken from 5 different Maher Zein’s songs selected by the researcher and then analyzed.
The finding indicates the presence of Arabic words and concept in his songs mainly due to the absence of equivalent English words while the most frequently used syntax is the sentence wich is a subjunctive sentence. Islamic English songs (Nasheed) can also be used as a media for English learning, especially for learning Grammar.
