Abstract

The research aims to know that using Think-Pair-Share strategy can improve speaking ability. The object of this research is the tenth grader of SMAN 01 Metro was conducted 38 students. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research is conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. In collecting the data, the researcher use observation, test, documentation, and field note. The finding of this research shows that there is improvement in speaking skills by using Think-Pair-Share strategy. It can be seen from the progress of the average score in pre-test, post-test I, and post-test II. The score of pre test in cycle I were 58 in the post test, a test were 60 became 68. The conclusion of this research was using Think-Pair-Share strategy on speaking ability was effective to improve the speaking skills at the tenth grader of SMAN 01 Metro.
