Abstract

Strategies for teaching vocabulary at Dar Al-Rashid Islamic Boarding are considered successful in teaching vocabulary, so the researcher sought to answer the two research questions. The second is how effective are these strategies used? The aim of this thesis first is to describe the strategies used in this institute, and the second is to evaluate the strategies used by the students of this institute.

The researcher uses the qualitative research approach, and the method of this research is the descriptive approach based on the evaluation type. Data collection tools depend on observation, interview and documentation. To analyze the data, the researcher used the Mills and Hebermann method, which is data collection, then data presentation, then data classification, then conclusion and conclusion. And to know the veracity of the data, the researcher used the triangulation method in three ways: the triangulation of sources, the triangulation of the research method, and the triangulation of time.

The result of this research is that the Dar Al-Rashid Islamic Boarding used various strategies that include what must be achieved in teaching vocabulary, namely pronunciation, knowledge of the correct meaning, usage, writing, and derivation. Teaching pronunciation uses auditory-verbal strategies, and to clarify the meaning, well-known strategies are used, which are movement, representation, image, explanation, synonym, opposites, plural, and translation. As for use, use the method of exercises, writing with a strategy of getting used to writing, and deriving a strategy of memorization. These strategies are suitable, and the research found that there is no preference for these strategies, but rather that each of the strategies is suitable for one level of the students, and there are some observations, namely the completion of teaching vocabulary pronunciation and writing more.
