Abstract

This study aims to find out which e-learning applications students preferred during online learning and also the factors that encourage students for choose these applications as online learning media which will make it easier for them to understand the learning material delivered by lectures.

This type of research was a qualitative descriptive research. In collecting data, researcher used questionnaires, interview and documentation. Data analysis techniques are data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion and drawing. The subjects of this study were 30 students. They are 2 nd, 4th, 6th and 8th semester in English Education Department at IAIN Metro.

The results of the study show that there were three applications favored by students, namely WhatsApp, Google Meet, and Zoom. The encouraging factor for students to like the application is because it is easy and very effective to use, according to student learning styles, and the facilities in the e-learning application are quite adequate. From the three applications preferred by students, Whatsapp is the most preferred application. Using WhatsApp makes it easier for students to collect assignments and this application can also still be used when the internet connection is not good enough.
