Abstract

he purpose of this research is to proove that using Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) method influenced the students’ reading skill and students’ learning activitiesamong the eighth graders students of MTs Miftahul Huda, Seputih Raman in the Academic Year of 2018/2019. The researcher had decided the problem in this research that focused on reading skill. It is related on the problem identification that the students have low motivation to learn English especially in reading, they got the difficulties to comprehend the main idea and information from the text, and they are also not interested about the learning method in the class. They always feel bored in reading subject.

This research conductedquantitatively, in form of experiment research. The populationof the research are the students amongthe eighthgrade of MTs Miftahul Huda Seputih Raman whichconsist of 25 students. And the sample is the class VIIIgrade studentswhich also consist of 25 students. This research was conducted by using clustering sampling technique. The instruments used are test, observation, and document. Before conducting research, the writer had been teaching about 6 times inthe class to get information from the students. Test is a primary method in collecting data. Test had been done twice; they were pre-test and post-test. Furthermore, documentation and observation are supporting method in collecting data.

Finally, the data confirmed that pre-test just 16% students that couldfulfill minimum mastery criteria (KKM) and mean of the pre-test is 53,28. Itcanbe calledthat the result of pre-test was unsatisfactory. Then, in post-test there were68% students that couldfulfill minimum mastery criteria (KKM) and mean of the post-test was 69, 48. It meantthat there was a significant influence ofusing Team Assisted Individualization (TAI)on the the students reading skill atthe eighthgraders ofMTs Miftahul Huda in academic year 2018/2019.
