Abstract

One of the language skills that should be leared by English learners is listening. Listening comprehension is the ability of the listener to receive the message that they have heard. By listening, students can get the information and expand the knowledge. Podcast as media will help the students to improve their English vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar on their listening comprehension. The aim of this research is investigating the influence of using podcast as media toward the students' listening comprehension at the second semester ofEnglish Education Study Program at STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro.

This research is quantitative research conducted at the second semester of English Education study program at STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro that involves of 33 students as the samples. The technique sampling was cluster-sampling technique. In collecting the data, the writer used test and documentation. To analyze the data, the writer used t-test to get the data of the students' listening comprehension through questions which consisted of 10 multiple choice.

The findings result shows that, there is an increase score from pre-test to post-test. The average of pre-test is 60 and post-test 92 and indicates that t observed = 9,106 is higher than t as»e = 1,690 in level of significant 5% and 2,440 in level of significant 1%. Therefore, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It means that podcast as media influence toward the students' listening comprehension at the second semester of English Education Study Program at STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro.
