Abstract

This study is aimed in finding the influence of using the freewriting. technique on the writing ability at the tenth graders of SMA N 1 RAMAN UTARA.

The population of research totaled 131 students. The sample of research is 26 at the class X.1. This research was quantitative research. The writer used documentation, observation, and test as data collection method.

The result of data analysis showed that t-observed = 51,73 and t-table= 5% (2.064) and 1% (2.797). Based on the result above, the data confirmed that "t observed is higher than t-table". Therefore, it can be inferred that Ho is rejected. It means that there is a positive and significant influence of using the freewriting technique on the writing ability at the tenth graders of SMA N 1 Raman Utara in the Academic Year of 2014/2015.
