Abstract

The study of using English- Indonesian code mixing plays an essential role in language learnin g. In the English learning process teacher use English Indonesian code mixing. Because the students it difficult to understand the material by using English. Using English - Indonesian is a vital decision for the result of language learning. Therefore, this study is to investigate the teacher English - Indonesian code mixing inthe English learning process.

This is qualitative in nature, which is typically case study. This study uses purposive sampling technique. The partipants in this study are teacher and students at eight graduate of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Metro who use English- Indonesian code mixing in learing English process. In collecting data, this study applies observation , interview, and documentation.

This study shows that the teacher use English- Indonesian code mixing in the English learning process. This main reason of English - Indonesion code mixing is as a communicative strategy, because code mixing can facilitate learning and the students get a better understanding by using English Indonesian code mixing. Morever, the teacher use more English- Language than indonesian language. In the learning English process teacher use 13% Indonesian language and 32% English language. It can be inferred that English- Indonesian code mixing can help teacher and students in English learning process
