Abstract

Writing is one of part in English program must be mastered by student who study English, writing shows the capability of student in structure form rightly, in various sentences, and kind of vocabulary in tenses form, This research was aimed at Increasing The Students Writing Ability Through Understanding Pictures at The Eighth Grader in Junior High School Of Pgri 2 Sekampung Udik, because writing is one of ways to write message in text form one language to another. In fact, there were many students have poor writing ability, This research was conducted at At The Eighth Grader in Junior High School Of Pgri 2 Sekampung Udik, The subject was the eighth grader, consisting 30 students. At the eight grader the students have low motivation and poor in writing ability so, the researcher will make the students more intersting by using picture as a media. Here is the problem formulation in this research: Can picture increase the student writing ability at the eighth grader of junior high school of PGRI 2 Sekampung Udik ? The objectives of this research were to know the writing ability, to know using picture in learning process.

The research method is called a classroom action research, In this research, the researcher used three methods to collecting the data. There were test, observation and documentation. The researcher used test as data collection method to measure about the writing ability so by giving test the researcher can know are there increasing or not.. To get information about the condition of students learning process,the situation of the environment in school, teacher the researcher used observation. The researcher uses the documentation method to get detail information about the English achievement of students especially in writing ability in learning proccess.

The conclusion of the research show that the students writing ability could be increase by using picture. It can be known after conducting of the revising proccess by cycles. It can be known after conducting of the revising process in cycle 2, in cycle one the student who got score pass only 14 (46,66) from 30 students, but now in cycle II become 25 (83,33), so it was increasing significant. The students got the learning enthusiasm reached in cycle 1, 8 (26,66%) to cycle 2, become 14 (46,66 %) student were improved 6 (20,%) because the teacher use the media to make student more interest in learning. Responsibility were reached in cycle 1, 8 (26,66%) to cycle 2, become 13 (43,33 %) student were improved 5 (16,66 %). For the passive were reached in cycle 1, 14 (46,66%) to cycle 2, become 3 (10,00%) student were decreasing 11 (36,66%), teacher more given motivation. So we can conclude that by using picture can increase the students writing ability at the eighth grader in Junior High School of PGRI 2 Sekampung Udik very significant.
