Abstract

Motivation is one of important aspect in Learning English. Without a strongmotivation, students will be difficult to do learning English. Theoretically, motivationis all of inner power reinforcing any person to do something. So motivation is powerthat determine successful in learning English. The students need motivation inlearning English because with motivation they will active to do learning English.

A method has the important rule. The method can help the teacher explainingor teaching the material because motivation is the key in teaching the goal of learningEnglish. By total physical response method was develop to reduce the stress peoplewhile studying foreign language especially in learning English. Total physicalresponse method believes the importance of having their students enjoy theirexperience in learning experience in learning to communicate in a foreign language.In TPR method, students listen and respond to the spoken target command of theirteacher so the students will be easier if they use their body in learning English.

At MI Ma’arif Daarul Rahman Melaris, especially at the fifth graders manystudents have low motivation in learning English. It can be looked from the result ofpre-survey. Based on this problem, the researcher was interested to apply the TPRmethod in teaching English because this method has been not use before yet.

The objective of this research is quantitative research design in the form ofexperiment research. The writer uses questionnaire to know the students responsetoward using the TPR method in the classroom and then the researcher measured thestudents motivation by question test. To investigate wheather there is any significantand influence by using tthe TPR method toward the students motivation in learning English the researcher analyzed the data by using product moment formula.

Finally, the data confirmed that robservation is bigger than rtable = 1,456 > 0,396.It can be inffered that Hi accepted. It means that there is a positive and significantinfluence of using the TPR method toward the students motivation in learningEnglish
