Abstract

Writing is one of the most difficultlanguageskillsthat shouldbe mastered by students in learning English. In writing there are several kinds of text such as narrative, descriptive, argumentative,recountand persuasive.Recount text is one of the textswhich has to be mastered by the eighth grade students of Junior High School. But, there are some problems that faced by the eighth grade students of Junior High School 1 PunggurLampung Tengahin writing recounttext. So it caused the result of learning is low. Therefore, to increase therecountwriting skill among the students, the writer used Animation Movie in learning process. Animation Movieis one of the methodsthat is used in teaching writing by means to stimulate students’ ideas. The goal of this research is to know whether Animation Movie method can improvethe writing skillin recount textamongeighth grade students atstate Junior High School 1 Punggur,Lampung Tengah.

This research was classroom action research (CAR) which involved 25 students in class VIII 4and was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were taken from writing test to figure out the students’ knowledge in writing recounttext. Furthermore, the writer used observation technique to get the data about students’ learning activities. The writer also used the documentation method to support the information concerning on the learning English. This research was conducted with an English teacher of Junior High School 1PunggurLampung Tengah.

The result of this research shows that Animation Movie methodhas positive role in increasing the skill ofwriting the recount text among the eighth grade students of State Junior High School 1 PunggurLampung Tengah. It can be proved by the students’ average score from pre test andpost test. The average score in pre test was 57,16, in post test 1 was 64,88and the post test 2 was 74,68. It can be inferred that Animation Moviecan improvethewriting skill inrecounttextamong the eighthgradestudents at Junior High School 1PunggurLampung Tengah.
