Abstract

This undergraduate thesis deals with analyzing reading difficulties in children at the elementary school 2 Metro Selatan. This analysis was conducted because many children has difficulties to reading simple sentence and pronounce word. Through this research, the researcher would like to figure out the factors which influence the difficulties reading of children in this research.

The object that the researcher had outlined in this research was the difficulties reading in Children in fifth grade at Elementary School 2 Metro Selatan. The researcher took 10 students from 35 students as her sample. A qualitative descriptive was used to approach the data. Moreover, the data were collected by observation, interview and documentation.

The result of this study shows that there are some factor that has been found in difficulties reading itself. It called, mother tongue, spelling, and pronounciation. After that, the researcher displays all the result of her findings. The result of analysis shows the totally percent of influence factor in reading difficulties in mother tongue is 100 %, spelling is 50%, and pronounciation is 50%. Furthermore, there is other factor which influence the difficulties reading such as supporting factor. Where is the supporting factor here is family. Family has big influence to increase the students have motivation to study at home. So, the students has progress of study at school. This factor founded at 80%. Based on the researcher finding's , the teachers and students should be able to care about what is the factor which influnce in their reading difficulties. Moreover, the correlation between teachers and parents also must be good. Because it will be able to increase the students ability in or out of the school.
