Abstract

Reading is one of the important aspects in education. By reading enhance the students' knowledge and learning experiences of students. Additionally all subjects in school have the book, so to be able to follow the lessons well, students should read because all the information required in the written form. To be able to read the students need to be trained and use appropriate strategy to make it easier and understand the read. There are many strategies that can be used in reading comprehension. Unfortunately this has not been used optimally therefore the students do not understand the readings were read.

Based on data pre survey, the problems which had been identified was the students found difficulties in reading comprehension because of have not a good strategy. In this reseach, the researcher using silent reading strategy. This research was aimed at detecting the influence of using silent reading strategy (X) toward the reading comprehension (Y) at the eight graders of MTs SA Raudlotul Huda Al-Islamy sidomulyo. The sample of the research was the eight grade students and the subjects ofthe research were 2 classes (65 students).

Furthermore, the writer conducted the t-test, by applying pretest and post-test as the instrument. In accordance withthe stratgey in present research, experimental design, the data was analyzed by using t-test that enable to investigate the differences between the result of pre-test before treatment and the result of post-test after treatment.

Moreover, the result of data analysis illustrates that tobserved = 0,62 and is categorized into low influence. Next, t obserdis not consulted to tate ofthe significant level of 5% = 1,99 and 1% = 2,64. Finally, the data confirms to»sere is lower than ta8te. Thus, it can be inferred that the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is rejected. There is not positive and significant influence between the result of pre-test and post-test at the eight graders of MTs SA Raudlotul Huda Al-Islamy Sidomulyo in academic year
2012/2013.
