Abstract

Listening is one of the principle skill for acquiring knowledge, ideas and concept, because it's not only hear the native speaker say but also get the message what the native speaker means. Listening is very important skill should be mastered by the students. Most of the students have the duty of learning skill bby using media. To increase the listening skill the students need an appropriate media in order to get easy in solving the problems. The problem which the researcher had outlined in this research deals largely whit the media in teaching listening skill. The primary goal of this research was to investigate the influence of using earphone media toward the students' listening skill at the eleventh grades ofMAN 1 Metro.

This research is quantitative research which deals with experimental research. This research was conducted at the eleventh gades of MAN I Metro that involve of 32 students as sample. In collecting the data, the research used test and documentation, meanwhile the data analysis technique that used t-test formulation. It used to investigate the differences between pre-test (before using earphone media) and post-test (after using earphone media).

Finally, the results of data analysis showed that t-st»serve =3,40 was higher than "t as."=2,031 in 5% and "t_a"2,727 in 1 %. Therefore, it can be inferred that Ha is accepted and Ho is rej - ted. It means that there is a significant influence of using earphone media toward the students listening skill at the eleventh grades of MAN 1 Metro.
