Abstract
The purposes of this research are to show that using Read Encode Annotated Ponder(REAP)strategy can improve the students‟Reading Comprehensionand students‟ learning activities at the tenth graders of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Terbanggi Besarin academic year 2019/2020.The writer had outlined the problem in this research that focused on reading comprehension. It is related on the problem identification that the students have low motivation to learn English especially in Reading, they get the difficulties todetermine the main idea in the text, and they are also not interested about the learning method in the class. They always feel bored in English subject.
The kind of this research is classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing and reflecting.Object of this research is the students‟ reading comprehension. In collecting the data used test, observation and documentation.
The finding research is averagescore of pre-test, post-testI and post-test IIshowedthat there wasprogressing score.In cycle I, the average score at pre-test was52.10,and in post-test I the average sore was 67.4 and the average score of post test II was 78.7. Based on the result, it couldbe said thatusing Read Encode Annotated Ponder(REAP)Strategy can improvethe students‟ reading comprehension at the tenth graders of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Terbanggi Besar.
