Abstract

This research intended to present that the recount writing ability can be improved through applying ClusteringTechnique. The type of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which involved 28 students in class VIIIand was conducted in two cycles. Cycle 1 consisted of two meetings and cycle 2 consisted of two meetings. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The data were taken from the writing test to figure out the students’ knowledge in writingrecounttext.Furthermore, the writer usedthe observation technique to get the data aboutstudent’s comprehension in writing, students’ activities while writing, and students’ participation in the learning process. Theiractivities were notedby the collaborator.The researcher also usedthe documentation method to support and to obtain the informationconcerning on the learning English in general.

The results of the test showed that there was any improvementfrom pre-test and post-test. In the first cycle the average score of pre-test was 62.47became 68.46in post-test1. In the cycle 1 the learning target had not been achieved because the students who got score more than 72 was under 85 %. In the second cycle there was any increasing from the result of pre-test which increase from 62.47became77.17in post-test2. In this cycle the learning target had been achieved that was 85.71% students got score more than 72.
