Abstract

The primary gold of the research is the influence of using guessing game toward the students'English learning result. When the writer conducted pre survey, especially at the fifth grade, most of the student had poor result and do not fulfill the minimum mastery criteria (KKM) which the teacher decide (60), that is because the technique used to teach English are considered ineffective. Based on these problems, the writer would like to improve the students' English learning result with another technique that is using guessing game. Because, this technique is affective to teach English material at state elementary school 3 Metro Timur. This research conducted a quantitative, in the form of experiment research; the characteristic of this research is correlated at fifth student of state elementary school 3 Metro Timur. The population of this research consist of 23 students. And the sample is all of the fifth grade students. It is established through the total sampling technique. The instruments used in this research are observation, documentation and test. Test is a primary method in collecting data. That is to measure the students' English learning result. Test had been done twice; they were pre test and post test. Furthermore, documentation and observation are as supporting method in collecting data. Finally, the data confirmed that pre test just 34.78% students that can fulfil minimum mastery criteria (KKM) and mean of the pre test is 54.6. It can say that the result of pre test was unsatisfactory. Then, in post test there are 86.96% students that can fulfil minimum mastery criteria (KKM) and mean of the pre test is 68.3. It means that there is a significant influence of using guessing game toward the students' English learning result at the fifth grade of SD N 3 Metro Timur in the academic years 2012/2013.
