Abstract

The primary goal of this research was to investigate the influence of Community Language Learning Method toward Students' Speaking Performance. This research was conducted among 37 students at the second semester of English Education Program in Jurai Siwo State Islamic College Metro in Academic year of 2013. In fact, most of the students are lack of in the pronunciation and fluency, because they have difficulties in speaking performance. Therefore, it was need a suitable technique to overcome the students' weakness. Method that can be used was Community Language Learning Method. The method used in this research was quantitative research design in the form of quasi experimental research. The writer used test, consists of pre-test and post-test as the data collection method. To investigate whether there is a positive and significant influence of Community Language Learning Method toward Students' Speaking Performance, the writer analyzed the data by using t-test formula. This research showed that, the average score of post-test (72.3243) was higher than the average of pre-test (64.4324). The result of data analysis using ttest was t-observed = 8.103 and t-table = 5%: 2.0315 and 1%: 2.727. It means that t-observed was higher than t-table. Based on the result of analysis data above, it can be said that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be inferred that there is a positive and significant influence of of Community Language Learning Method toward Students' Speaking Performance at the second semester of English Education Program in Jurai Siwo Metro State Islamic College Metro in Academic year of 2013.
