Abstract

One of the difficult skills of the four language skills is listening skills. Student difficult to understand what the native speakers say and they difficult to identify meaning. The objectives of this research was to to know whether monologue of narrative text can increase the students' listening comprehension and to know whether narrative text can increase learning process to interest. The subject of this research was 24 students of eleventh AP in the academic 2012/2013. This research was classroom action research. The action research was done in two cycles. Each cycle was done in two meetings. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research was conducted collaborative process with English teacher of SMK Wiratama Kotagajah. In this research, the researcher was collecting the data used test, they were pre-test and post-test, observation, and fieldnote. The purpose of pre-test and post-test was to know how far the students had mastered listening comprehension before and after being given the treatment. The average result score of this research showed that there was progressing score. The average score at cycle I = 64.4, and it was increase 7.5 point. And then, the average score at post-test II = 84.1. It was increase 20 point better than cycle I. While, the percentages of the student's passed at cycle II= 100% students who are able passed the exam. Base on the result of observation, the student's activity in cycle I was 60 % and cycle II was 83 %. Based on the result above, It can be said that monologue of narrative text can increase students' listening comprehension. This media made the students are interested and motivated in the class. So that, they felt so enjoy to doing the task. And, It also made them easier in studying the materials.
